We are Waterloo Community Art Project

The City of Waterloo is pleased to be working with Richard Burrows and Christa Mercey who have been named as the City of Waterloo 2020 Artists in Residence.

From May to September, Richard and Christa will create a series of instructional videos aimed at giving community members the tools to create a video to be submitted to be part of a community sing along.

From May to June, Richard and Christa will focus their efforts on creating a community edition of "O Canada." This will be presented during our online Canada Day celebration and will be online in the months that follow for the community to enjoy.

From July to September, Richard and Christa will work with the community to produce a community anthem, "We are Waterloo." This will feature the submitted videos from community participants and will premiere at the end of September.

All members of the community are invited to participate. If you needed additional information or support on how to create or submit a video, please reach out and we will do our best to help. Submissions will be assembled into a community exhibit that will be shared on social media, the City of Waterloo website, and on the Create Waterloo YouTube channel.

For more information or assistance, please contact Sonya Poweska, Culture Program Specialist, at sonya.poweska@waterloo.ca.
