Property Tax Deferral program

This program is intended to give residents and businesses extra time to pay their final tax bills if needed by extending final due dates by 60 days.

To be eligible for the program you must:

  • be the owner of the property to apply
  • apply by the deadline of July 31, 2020
  • experienced financial hardship directly related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this means:
    • loss of employment
    • temporary suspension/reduction of pay
    • business revenue loss
    • temporary business closure
  • all property taxes have been paid in full up to and including the March 2020 Interim Installment
  • have not received compensation from Business Interruption Insurance due the COVID-19 pandemic and put it towards the payment of property tax
  • have not received Provincial or Federal assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic specifically for the payment of property tax

If your application is approved you will be notified through email.

Please note, if you currently pay your property taxes through a pre-authorized payment plan, you will be removed once your application is approved. You will have to submit a new pre-authorized payment plan application in November for the 2021 tax year if you wish to re-enroll.

If your mortgage company pays your property taxes, you are responsible for contacting your financial institution to advise them to delay your payments if your application is approved.
