Homemakers
Fill out the form and attach your resume to apply to the City of Waterloo’s Home Support Services Brokered Worker program for Homemakers.
Please read the following position summary carefully.
Brokered workers assist individuals with tasks to help them to live safely in their own homes. Tasks include a variety of light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, cleaning bathroom and kitchens, and optional tasks based on individual need such as changing bedding or laundry. Clients will provide all of the cleaning supplies and equipment for the Homemaker to use. All of the individuals requiring assistance meet Home Support Service’s eligibility criteria to participate in this program.
Brokered workers are self-employed and are not City of Waterloo employees. Brokered workers are paid directly by the client at a rate of $22/hr.
Commitment: Brokered workers have the flexibility to choose how many individuals they would like to support. Hours are flexible between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Homemaking is part-time work with up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Home Support Services requests a minimum of a 1-year time commitment.
All homes are within the City of Waterloo and homemakers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the homes.
As part of the application process, homemaking applicants will be required to submit a Police Records Check for work with the Vulnerable Sector that is satisfactory to the City of Waterloo, at their own cost. Please do not complete this portion of the application process until asked to do so by Home Support staff.
