Camp gear

All camp participants need to wear structural firefighting gear for any fire-related activities. Using the images below and the size chart as reference, select the sizes you need for your shirt, jacket, and pants.

Acknowledgements and participation waivers

Participation Waiver

Please read carefully. Before participating in the City of Waterloo Emergency Services Career Camp, you must agree to the terms outlined below.

In consideration of participation in the Fire Services Career Camp (the “Career Camp”) organized and run by the Corporation of the City of Waterloo (the “City”), the Participant (or the Participant’s Legal Guardian, in the case of Participants under 18 years of age) at this moment acknowledges and agrees as follows:

  1. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK FACTORS: I am aware and acknowledge that participation in the Career Camp may involve the use of specialized fire safety devices, equipment, and facilities owned by the City, which exposes the Participant to inherent risks, dangers, and hazards, including the risk of property damage, bodily injury, and possible death.

  2. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: By participating (or permitting the participation of a participant under 18 years of age in my care) in the Career Camp, I acknowledge that I understand and that I freely accept and fully assume all risks, dangers and hazards, including the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss arising from or relating to participation in the Career Camp, or from the unavailability of emergency medical care.

  3. CITY RULES AND POLICIES: I understand and agree that all participants must follow all rules and policies of the City relating to the Career Camp and the property, facilities, equipment, services or location relating to the Career Camp, and follow the directions of Career Camp Volunteers and City staff relating to it. Failure to do so may result in the City discontinuing the Participant’s ability to participate in the Career Camp and to use the affected property, facilities, equipment, services or location.

  4. RELEASE OF LIABILITY – WAIVER OF CLAIMS & INDEMNITY AGREEMENT:
    I hereby:
    • waive any claims of any kind that I (or a participant under the age of 18 years in my care) have or may in the future have against the City, arising from or relating in any way to participation in the Career Camp or use of the property, facilities, equipment, services or location of the City relating to the Career Camp, and release the City from any liability for any loss, damage, injury (including illness or death) or expense (“Loss”) that I (or a participant under 18 years of age in my care) may suffer, howsoever caused; participation in the Career Camp or use of the property, facilities, equipment, services or location of the City relating to the Career Camp, except to the extent that any such Loss is the result of the negligence of the City; and
    • hold harmless and indemnify the City from any claims, demands, actions, losses, causes of action, proceedings, suits, damages, expenses or liability of any kind, including reasonable legal fees and expenses of litigation, brought by any person, including for any property damage, personal injury, including death, or other damages, resulting from participation in the Career Camp.

  5. I agree that this Participant Waiver shall be effective and binding upon myself, my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns.

Personal information is being collected under the authority of s. 28(2) of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and will be used for the purpose of administration, planning, and management of admission and participation in the Emergency Services Career Camp. This information will be shared with staff who require it for their work as part of the Emergency Services Career Camp. The personal information collected herein will be used only for the purposes relating to the camp and will be protected in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the MFIPPA.
