Partners in Parks community stewardship activity

From spring to fall, make a difference in your neighbourhood park in Waterloo by organizing a small community stewardship activity for your group.

One-time activities (2 hour duration) include:

  • bird house maintenance at RIM Park
  • community litter cleanup
  • mulching woodland trails
  • managing invasive plant (buckthorn)

The City provides cloth gloves, supplies and hand tools, and city staff deliver an orientation and monitor tasks for each activity with the exception of community litter cleanup.  For park litter cleanups, the group leader provides an orientation and directly supervises group participants with suitable tasks.  Information is provided in your supply kit.  

Refer to the Partners in Parks webpage to view activity information sheets and roles and safety guidelines.  Pay attention to timing of when the activity can take place.  If you plan two activities for your group on the same day, please provide more than 1 month's notice.

Small group sizes of no more than 25 to 50 participants are recommended.  Community litter cleanups for large groups can be divided into several small groups that tackle different sections of a large community park or several neighbourhood parks.
